Itinerary

Full day description

This immersive tour will offer you a closer look at the daily lives of the Inca as well as the small Andean communities of today. Your guide will pick you up at your hotel at 8:30 am for a one-hour drive through stunning scenery straight to the Pisac Archeological Site. The Pisac ruins are filled with impressive Inca architecture but the most impressive feature is the agricultural terracing, which sweeps around the south and east flanks of the mountain in huge and graceful curves. Other highlights of the Archaeological Site are the largest known Inca cemetery and a residential settlement built for farmers.

Following this intriguing visit, we will continue our ride to the Amaru Community, where we will be welcomed with music and flowers. The Amaru family will offer a tasting of potatoes and Uchucuta (spicy cream made with local products) and after a delicious lunch served in an Amaru home, you will take part in an activity to learn more about the different uses and properties of different native herbs. You will also witness a traditional weaving workshop, where you will learn about different types of wool, the natural dyes obtained from plants and the tailoring techniques needed to create the colorful Peruvian garments. The drive back to the hotel will leave at approximately 3.30 pm.
